Kinpu Shrine (金峯神社) is a historic Shinto shrine dedicated to Kanayamahiko-no-Mikoto, the patron deity of Mt. Yoshino and gold mines. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004 as part of the Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range, the shrine features a main hall constructed in the nagare-zukuri style. Kinpu Shrine (金峯神社) has been an important center for Shugendo mountain asceticism since before the Edo period and continues to serve as a gateway for holy pilgrimages.
